2nd December 2022 - 4pm to 6pm ATC101 Advanced Diploma of Interior Design presents A Second Chance Project - Social Cohesion.
An interior design project aspiring to create a socially inclusive environment in the re-purposed DFO building at the Southern Cross Station. This is the fourth year of The Second Chance programme of the Advanced Diploma of Interior Design at Swinburne University of Technology. This year's project is based around a comprehensive social enterprise business model. A short-term accommodation facility and other associated commercial ventures will provide financially support for the emergency accommodation for homeless people. This facility will also provide free meals, washing and laundry facilities and social service support.

On the 3rd week of our project launch, our graduates had the opportunity to visit site 602 Little Bourke Street - Make Room will support people who are experiencing homelessness on the streets of Melbourne and will engage the experts to help break the cycle of homelessness. Make Room is a unique partnership between the City of Melbourne, the Victorian Government, housing providers and corporate and philanthropic organisations. to help break the cycle of homelessness.

Allen’s cultural background has influenced his conceptual framework for his holistic view of architecture. He blends evidence-based design with the inalienable understanding of the living spirit relationship.
AKA work has been recognised with many international awards including UN World Habitat Award and UN Scroll of Honour for Human Settlements, UIA Architecture for All; World Congress of Health and Design for Salutogenic Design. Both World Architecture News and Banksia Foundation Design for Sustainability.
Allen has further roles as Co-Chair of International Union of Architecture (UIA) Architecture for All Work programme, Co-Chair and Director of Indigenous Architecture and Design Victoria (IADV), Convenor of RAIA National Enabling Architecture Committee, Member of Building Appeals Board Victoria (BAB) and Sustainable Architecture Forum Victoria.
