DAY TWO - MORNING MINGLES* WITH LIVE MUSIC PERFORMANCE

Welcome to Art & Design Symposium 2022 - Designers Emerging Futures. We are delighted to invite our Industry partners, guests, mentors, graduates and meet our current Art & Design students and staff to share their design aspects at Swinburne University of Technology.

Yemo is a Melbourne based guitarist specialized in jazz & improvised music. He’s currently attending the jazz course at Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music. He draws from an array of contemporary artists such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Fred Hersch, Brad Mehldau, Ted Greene, Ben Monder, Jim Hall etc., in expressing and communicating his aesthetics with unique instrumental voice.In 2021, Yemo was invited to participate in the visiting artists recording project by the School of Music, and performed guitar parts for “Landings” and “Missing” by Ingrid Jensen and “Racing Heart, Hear Racing” by John Hollenbeck.Yemo plays regularly in a duo named “KyMo” with trombonist Kyle Chenoweth; and a trio named “Treehouse 3” with drummer Alby Rolfe and bassist Jack Smythe.

Mia Barham is a young up and coming alto saxophone and flute player in Melbourne. She has a unique personal voice and thoroughly enjoys exploring creativity in a variety of genres. Her passion for music is infectious, wearing her heart and soul on her sleeve in every performance.

Andre Chen is a Melbourne based bass player. After performing locally in the blues scene and wedding scene, Andre started attending Monash University as a jazz performance student in 2021.
